In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress and the IRS have granted significant federal tax relief to individual taxpayers and businesses. In addition, the SECURE Act, which became law in late 2019, includes significant tax changes for individuals and businesses. Tax extenders legislation enacted in late 2019 includes other important tax changes for individuals. Finally, tax provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) continue to impact individuals and small businesses. This course covers 49 important topics that the aforementioned developments have opened up and that you need to know about to best serve your individual and small business clients. Also addressed are some tax planning and compliance issues that result from these developments.
Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:
identify key federal tax considerations that impact individual taxpayers and small business clients as a result of recent legislation and IRS developments, including COVID-19-related tax relief, the SECURE Act, tax extenders legislation, and the continuing impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).
