Business valuation is the act or process of determining the value of a business enterprise (a commercial, industrial, service, or investment entity or a combination thereof pursuing an economic activity) or ownership interest therein. Professional business valuations involves a special knowledge and skill. Statement on Standards for Valuation Services No. 1 was issued under VS Section 100, Valuation of a Business, Business Ownership Interest, Security, or Intangible Asset, to improve the consistency and quality of this service. This course presents the purpose, scope and exceptions of VS Section 100 as well as terminology, various valuation and calculation approaches and methods and the contents of reports to be issued by a valuation analyst. This course is most beneficial to professionals new to regulations for business valuations who may be at the staff or entry level in organization but also for a seasoned professional with limited exposure to this topic.
