This course provides an introduction to the topic of Big Data for those who may not have had direct experience with large and complex data stores, and outlines the challenges entities including government entities experience when capturing, storing, mapping, and analyzing such data. This basic level course is most beneficial to professionals new to this subject who may be at the staff or entry level in organization but also for a seasoned professional with limited exposure to this topic.
Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:
recognize the general concept, impact, and function cloud computing has on data generation and storage,
identify the definition, components, and sources of Big Data,
recognize the impact Big Data has on the accounting and auditing professions,
recognize the changes in auditing guidance that were needed due to Big Data, and
identify various data mining and data analysis that can help auditors in their goal of serving their clients.
