This course provides a look at foreclosure law in light of the current economic climate. The course looks at federal legislation aimed at promoting home ownership in the United States, discusses industry lending practices, and legislation aimed at helping homeowners avoid foreclosures. The course briefly discusses lending practices and the impact of the economy on commercial real estate. The course provides an overview of the foreclosure process, and provides the learner with advice on where to turn for assistance in dealing with mortgage related difficulties and how to avoid refinance scams.
Upon successful completion of Foreclosure Law, the user should be able to:
identify federal legislation aimed at promoting home ownership,
recognize federal legislation geared toward assisting individuals in jeopardy of foreclosure,
identify potential refinancing scams, how to avoid them, and where to report them, and
compare and contrast lending practices and foreclosure risks between commercial and residential real estate.
