In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress granted significant federal tax relief to individual taxpayers and businesses. Tax relief provisions are included in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, the CARES Act, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, and the American Rescue Plan Act. In addition, the SECURE Act, which became law in late 2019, included significant tax changes for individuals and businesses that have continuing impact. Finally, changes included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) continue to impact individuals and small businesses. This course covers important topics that these developments opened up and that you need to know about to better serve individual and small business clients. Also addressed are some tax planning and compliance issues that result from these developments.
