This comprehensive course covers key tax issues for completing complicated individual returns and the increasing complication of resolving issues with the IRS. This course includes coverage of recent legislation, case law developments, relevant notices, announcements, revenue rulings and procedures to help the busy practitioner stay current. Speakers are all practicing preparers who share practical tips to help you get ready for this tax season.

Course coverage includes:
  • Form K-2 and Form K-3 further explained.
  • Impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 including the changes to credits and deductions for energy and electric vehicles including recently released regulations.
  • Secure 2.0 has changed many of the rules of accumulation and distribution of retirement accounts. Details of the regulations and rules of both Secure 1.0 and Secure 2.0 will be discussed.
  • Information return reporting was modified by the Taxpayer First Act of 2019. The IRS has finalized the regulations, these rules will be reviewed and explained.
  • Form 1099-K reporting was expanded by 2021 legislation. IRS delayed the new reporting rules by one year, but 2022 tax returns will be affected by expanded reporting.
  • Student loan debt discharge continues to wait for court action, we will be ready with the latest rules.
  • Complications of real estate ownership including the new rules of IRA 2022.
  • The complications of digital assets and associated reporting will be explained.
