This course is required for all New York supervisors. The course covers the New York State and New York City sexual harassment training requirements, and it examines the types of workplace conduct that are considered unlawful discrimination and harassment. It also explains what supervisors and managers in New York should do to avoid or minimize incidents of discrimination and harassment in the workplace. It is recommended as a training tool to reduce the risk of legal liability that employers face for violations of federal, state, and local workplace discrimination and harassment laws. This course satisfies the sexual harassment training requirements for New York state and New York City.
Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:
recall the relevant federal and New York laws related to harassment,
recite the conduct that should be prohibited in any organization's harassment policies as well as the duties such policies should impose on supervisory employees,
express the ability to respond appropriately when misconduct is observed or when an employee complains about harassment-type conduct, and
express how to avoid retaliation.
